Reef Track: Underwater Navigation for Divers
Reef Track is a navigation system that helps divers plan routes on the surface and follow them underwater using a wrist-worn display and body-mounted sensor. It provides real-time orientation, waypoints, and points of interest, turning dive plans into clear, confident underwater guidance.
Accurate underwater navigation relies on a high-precision IMU motion sensor paired with a wrist-mounted display. We began by exploring system architectures to integrate these components, developing concepts that unified them into a cohesive experience.
Following concept finalization, I led the refinement of the body-worn IMU sensor and developed renderings for the product website and app.
In addition to the product, I contributed to the design of the DEMA (Diving Equipment and Marketing Association) trade show booth. The goal was to translate a complex navigation system into an experience that felt clear and approachable, using visuals, messaging, and spatial flow to guide visitors through the system. I also traveled to Orlando, FL to help oversee the booth setup and connect directly with the product founders ahead of the launch.
